Fuel the Knowledge with Pepperidge Farms Goldfish

How did I to get two teenagers to study over spring break?

Almost the same as when I'd ask them to pick up their toys as a toddler, Pepperidge Farms Goldfish crackers and a walk outside to watch the sunset.

There's no way around studying, less than 2 weeks before the 4 hour long test, kind of glad it wasn't need when I was in high school, wish I had an older sister to help me with school work and grew up in such a beautiful place with sand instead of snow.
But I can't imagine how many more freckles I might have had, if there was this much sunlight my hometown of Buffalo.

As the kids get older it seems like things can get all the more crazier, and once the warm weather hits, which is right now, the kids are often struck by spring fever. Our solution is simple!

Fresh air, sunshine and fuel for our knowledge is key to happiness!

Well not sure about everywhere, but here in lower Alabama on the Eastern Shore, we revel in its ceaseless beauty.

Jack Jaques

Life is never dull with a 93 pound shaggy dog, He enjoyed his first Mardi Gras parade and even caught himself a throw!

Sometimes he forgets he's a pup and does what he sees and joins in, eating too many moonpies makes you thirsty.

VitaTops: Indulge Smart from the Heart

Most of the time we are running out the door every morning in 4 different direction, I love having fresh bake goods ready for the kiddos when they wake up but it's not always doable and the usual alternatives aren't really our kind of morning fix. So when I discovered VitaTops™ MuffinTops, I couldn't have been more excited, except when I read they are low fat, high fiber and only made with clean and simple ingredients. Each of the MuffinTops has its own unique health benefits from Organic ingredients, Superfoods like flax & Chia seed, protein-rich and Gluten Free. Yay!!!

Our local Publix has the Deep Chocolate and Wild Blueberry VitaTops on isle 14 in the frozen section, now we can indulge in delicious VitaTops MuffinTops, even when I don't have time to bake I can still surprise the kids, and better yet turn them into fun shapes on Valentine's Day or make yummy nut butter and fluff filled muffin sandwiches for their lunch boxes.

Chinese New Year Parade: Year of the Rooster

We live in a small community full of big hearts and fun spirits. I've lived here almost 2 decades and try never to miss a Chinese New Year Parade, this was their 21st year of celebrating bringing together families through adoption. Children not only from China but other countries parade to wish everyone luck, happiness and good health in the new year.

Chinese New Year 2017 begins a year of the Rooster. Though it's considered a bad year for "Roosters": people born in a Rooster year and they must take take precautions to avoid misfortune.

Year Of the Dragon Fun HERE:

Martin Luther King, Jr., Remembered.

I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification" -- one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today!

-Martin Luther King, Jr.

We joined in on the MLK Day events, walking with hundreds down Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and visiting the Africatown museum along with a stop at the Old Plateau Cemetery, known as the Africatown graveyard which is the final resting place of enslaved Africans, African-Americans, and a Buffalo Soldier.

The Africatown burial ground dates back to 1876, sixteen years after Africans arrived on the Clotilda which was one of the last documented slave ships to leave Africa for the Americas. The northern area of the graveyard is the older section where the remains of Clotilda survivors have been found through an archaeological preservation project directed by the College of William and Mary. The historic annals of Africatown are chiseled upon tombstones in this graveyard.

We love are state of Alabama, and it is definitely better off than back in the 1960's, but we still have a ways to go to heal this country and be united.

Adding some spring in my morning step with belVita Biscuits

Mid-winter is always and interesting and busy time of year here on the gulf coast. Sometimes I find myself mowing the lawn in January other times we wake up to frozen koi ponds and fountains. This year is no different, the threat of a few flakes gets all the kids excite when the blooming azaleas brighten the breakfast table, while I enjoy some wonderful satsumas from my neighbor's tree she left at my door and the new strawberry yogurt belVita Breakfast sandwiches to fill me up before walking the kids to school.

The cool mornings would make for a sluggish start if I didn't have belVita Biscuits supplying me with a steady nutritious energy to keep you going until lunchtime, added with some fruit and dairy and I feel like I'm back in London after 20 years, but the kids aren't buying my fake accent as I enjoy these scrumptious biscuits and apparently it's doesn't amuse them for me to call the school bus a trolley. A girl can dream, can't she?!

We had some pretty bad storms and the weather has turned cool again, but Mother Nature made up for it with another fabulous cloud display!
