This week we've been taking care of our friends baby chicks while they're away. They're so fluffy and cute and I was amazed at how easy they are to take care of, well easier than our new pup at least.
The kiddos had their first time playing with them yesterday, it had been on their to do list. Everything was going wonderfully we fed them, cleaned the bedding and now it was time to run and play in the pen, that's when tragedy struck.
I won't go into the gory details but some of the fencing was pretty sharp, the kiddos had never experienced death before, well at least not right before their very eyes. We talk about it, they cried and we learn life can be a hard lesson sometimes.
We headed on our walk back home afterward, some crying others trying to rationalize what they had just witnessed and lucky for
us me an elderly neighbor was out washing her car, so the kiddos rolled up their sleeves and finished the job for her, it really cheered them up as they splashed about in the water and it definitely took their minds off of the chicks.
Good deeds can go along way, I know they learned more than they might have realized yesterday. Life is full of obstacles, speaking of I have given up chocolate chips for lent, it's not major but the kiddos decided it for me, was I really eating that much? I guess you don't ever know you have a problem until someone does a chocolate intervention (my favorite are white chips and M&M don't count) and oh how I will miss eating then for 40 days and 40 nights.
I can't believe it's almost halfway through March and I still haven't done my taxes!!!
