I have buoys!

Between the sniffling, sneezing, achy head, can't sleep because of the flu day I was able get a laugh in listening to my 4 and 6 year olds talk about buoys and babies. Here's how it went:

pea1: I don't see the buoys

pea2: I found your buoys

pea3: What where are Mommy's buoys?

pea4: I know where Mommy's buoys are there right there. (Little pea pointed to my chest it was too funny.)

pea4: I know what buoys are they feed babies and have milk.

pea3: Well I know where babies come from.

pea4: So do I!

peas3: Oh yea they come from Mommy's here. (He pointed to the lower back side)

pea4: No! They come from the tomach when Mommy's get fat below the buoys.

pea3: Well I know they come out all bloody.

And so we ended the coversation there and Buoys in their new home above the fridge.

A tree grows in

Our backyard!

The peas help plant a Devilswood better known as sweet olive seedling I picked up during our towns Saturday's Arbor day celebration. They loved digging in the dirt and taking turns watering their new plant.

Yep that's the beloved blankie joining in the festivities, sometimes his sister like to call him Linus, and he wonders why?

No matter how sick little pea is she never wants to miss out on anything, my poor little baby girl feel better soon!

Holey C…ow

…I can't wait to stop coughing.
…I can't believe we still have the flu after 3 weeks
… I can't believe the weather it's awesome!
…I ready to be done unpacking
…I love my kiddos!

Yep for those of you still shoveling snow before heading out the door that says 70 degrees in the shade!
I feel I can brag a bit after suffering loving the first 21.5 years of my life in Buffalo.

Happy Fingers

The kids love drawing finger friends so check out these 40+ smiley Finger friends photos  , the blog is a bit on the weird side but the post is cute.

It looks like someone else just found a new place to call home too! I love my vintage watering can turned wind chime I could listen to the sound of the recycled glass clang all day long out my kitchen window.

And one more happy thing I'm going to do today before the peas go to bed is inspired by my all time favorite singer who will be in concert here in May and I can't wait!

Oh , my mama loves, she loves me
She get down on her knees and hug me
Like she loves me like a rock
She rocks me like the rock of ages
And loves me
She love me, love me, love me, love me

Squirrels and Rootbeer

Rootbeer floats all around.

It was a perfect day to sit out in the backyard to eat spinach pizza and slurp down some delicious ice cream floats. I know its not summer yet but I'm cross my fingers that this weather will hold on through the weekend. The peas ate while I finished hanging the laundry and were entertained watching the birds and squirrels play, there has to be 15-20 regular bird visitors and two squirrely friends but we are especially fond of the fire engine red papa cardinal. We're looking forward to many more happy days out in the yard this year and I can't wait until the flowers start to bloom!

Fun and Games

The day started out great with oatmeal a la mode for breakfast and ended pea2 reading to her brother in bed it was so sweet I'm so glad they realized it's better to be buddies than ememies.

Hmmm… looking a bit too happy like he wants to shoot the arrow at me instead of the target in this photo.

The peas came up with this game on the chalkboard the other day and love it! They drew a chalk bullseye and take turns shooting the wooden bow and arrow sometimes it even sticks and I'm was quite impressed with the way pea1 incorporated teaching the little ones math by keeping track of who's winning on their S-E-A-L scoreboard.

Did I mention how much I love archery? I don't like killing things being a vegetarian for the past 23 years but ever since high school gym class I have loved the skill of shooting the arrow at the target or maybe it was just because there was a cute boy in the class or that I got an A+.

Happy Laundry Day!

I've never been so happy doing laundry and now that we moved I can hang our sheets in peace, no more neighborhood rules and regulations, life is good!

And remember the tooth fairy comes again tonight, pea2 has lost 3 teeth in 3 days that might just be some sort of record in this house.

Happy Valentines Day!

I love my four sweet Valentines who make me feel so special and very loved. Our happy day was filled with tons of hugs and kisses, homemade pizza, spinach quiche, candy and a trip to the ice cream shoppe. We made it through without any tummy aches this year!

All work and no play…

Makes for one exhausted Mom come Sunday evening. I don't mind sacrificing the weekend if it means I have the rest of the week to devote to schooling and spending extra time getting crafty with the peas. But PLEASE don't try and call me before 9am Monday morning and ask me if I want to buy a timeshare in the Bahamas, I just might have been dreaming I was there already.

Oh and pea2 lost another tooth, she'll be hitting up TF twice this week after he visit to the dentist on Tuesday.

Balancing Act

Pea4's spool city

It's been quite a crazy around here lately, everything is out of place and the new schedule has left one to wonder why bother even getting out of bed. But life is full of daily struggles and it's how we balance them that counts. Even though the peas have no idea which box they're toys are in it hasn't stopped them from playing games like blackboard archery( I'll post about that Wednesday) and using my vintage collection of spools to build towers a child's imagination is endless and watching them play so well together makes me one happy Mom.

’cause (s)he had high hopes, (s)he had high hopes

This has to be my favorite song to sing in the car lately
since I feel a lot like that
little o ant who thinks she can move a rubber tree plant.
If only I sounded as good as Ol' Blue Eyes instead

Next time your found, with your chin on the
There a lot to be learned, so look around

Just what makes that little old ant
Think he’ll move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant, can’t
Move a rubber tree plant

But he’s got high hopes, he’s got high hopes
He’s got high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time your gettin’ low
’stead of lettin’ go
Just remember that ant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant

When troubles call, and your back’s to the wall
There a lot to be learned, that wall could fall

Once there was a silly old ram
Thought he’d punch a hole in a dam
No one could make that ram, scram
He kept buttin’ that dam

’cause he had high hopes, he had high hopes
He had high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time your feelin’ bad
’stead of feelin’ sad
Just remember that ram
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam

All problems just a toy balloon
They’ll be bursted soon
They’re just bound to go pop
Oops there goes another problem kerplop

Music to my ears...

Yep, there's still an endless symphony of cough through out our house at night I can hear it resinate out of the bedrooms first is pea3 who sounds like a tuba then across the hall pea1 comes is quite like a piccalo and finally pea4 follows like a rhythic drum. It's been almost 2 years since the last time they were sick so I'm happy for my kids great immune system and mindful hand washing and hopefully only a few more days left to this illness and if my eyes weren't messing with me it looked like the weather will be warming up into the 70's next week so we celebrated with some ice cream!

If it ain't broke

Well I will say it's been tough trying to find things to be happy about this week especially when pea#1 tells me that her $300 retainer broke, ugh and that she might be coming down with the flu too, double ugh. Okay let's see what can I be happy about besides being alive... I had a nice chat with a good friend today, pea4 fell asleep in my lap (she alway does but it just makes me happy), I found the missing bolts to the girls beds so they didn't have to sleep on the floor, the peas received valentines cards from their great-grandma banana and I made a scene at wallyworld while trying catch the rather large and expensive gift from Gigi before it crashed to the floor in the checkout lane, we are very happy that it didn't, I mean REALLY VERY HAPPY!

We all scream for ice cream!

I still have a house full of sick children, lots of coughing, vomiting and snuggling on the couch between unpacking and painting. Is it me or is 7 hours way to long to paint a room? White. But I will say it's worth it, who ever thought orange and blue in the kitchen looked good must not have liked to cook. We're finally getting settle patiently waiting for the weather to warm up so we can take that walk Mr. Gene's Beans ice cream shoppe which is now just a short 3 blocks away. What's happier than 4 peas with ice cream? Nothing.

Free kisses and hugs

I'm a nice person, well I like to think I am… Ok I know I am even if I have to smile and bite my tongue to do it and I'd also like to think that nice gals don't finish last but geez can I have a break? But no matter how tough things seem to be right now I think I'll take the peas up on this coupon to get me through.

Moving on…

via Boston Connect
I've been busy packing boxes and clean up vomit and working. When it rain it pours so I guess the only thing to do is grab my favorite blanket and take a few minutes and remember the sun will come out tomorrow. That song is stuck in my head the peas got the movie over the holidays and have been watching it in the car over and over again.

Good Neighbors

Today was all about acceptance, moving forward and pizza. It's the kind of day you appreciating growing up in the City of Good Neighbors and not just for the best pizza and wings in the world but a place where they look past any misgivings and ask you to take off your coat and stay while. Here's to a city where your friends for life no matter what.

Buffalo City Hall:
A 32 story Art Deco building completed in 1931 by Dietel, Wade & Jones.

Pea3 thought this was the most beautiful building in the whole wide world and well it just might be.

Happy day: 9/365

It's hard to be overly joyous about vomit but on the bright side I am glad I was on cleanup duty and not hugging the porcelain. So between holding hair and washing the floor I found this on the web it's great!

Who needs sleep?

Einstein and Edison we know to rarely sleep, even Van Gogh, so great minds must not need much. But after 2 days of little sleep going to bed at 5am and out the by 7:30am I'm either a genius, Supermom or about to collapse. I ended up collapsing snuggling with a really sweet pea on the sofa 'till morning.

Have you ever had a hundred thought run through your head before falling asleep? Probably, right. Well I decided to listen to one inparticular thought that crossed my head the one that said, "Maybe Pea #2 isn't sick and her two cavities are infected and abscessed." the the last two dentist warned me to keep a look out for this since they're baby teeth we had hope they fall out before such an event would occur and so I hopped out of bed after being rather cozy and woke her up to take a look, to my horror she had 3 huge abscesses invading her mouth and the peas and I quick rush to spend the next 4 hours at ER. after some drainage and antibiotics we left swirling and tired but very happy she was going to feel better.

No photos for this one, it was pretty gross looking.
